well currently i have a tiny viair 120psi pump kit in my truck for my helper bags and semi air horn up front. and well my pump is about dead! doesnt want to work unless i bump it and then it still doesnt sound right and doesnt pump up that much i dont think. SO anyways i bought new compressors Viair 380C dual pumps. i was going to just buy a single BUT for the price of two i figured WHY NOT buy both and ill have another for when ever i do bag the front of my truck ill have enough air to play around some ;) i got em on alittle sale $279 for both shipped. or ill just save one of the pumps and get another air tank and slap it on my old 66impala for a air horn or some type on it someday ;) either another semi horn like my truck or a more common train horn.

im thinking of a 3-5gallon air tank. and instead of using the supplied 165/200 pressure switch i think id be more comfortable running a 140-170 range switch. right now my switch is a 90/120 i think on my current tank.

im going to pull that pump off here shortly and slap one of these 380C on there and try to see if i can just slap it on there or not. im hoping it will fit around my other fittings and such since i got alot more on it than is shown in that old picture above! i hope so cause i dont feel like making to large of a mount. hoping to get away with a easy pad extension off the top and it cleaning my pressure switch and other top fittings! but i probably wont.

BUT ANYWAYS whats a good air tank to run ruffly 3-5gallon at 200psi MAX for me? i know aluminum tank wont rust but is that realy worth the extra 50bucks or so? and either way id be painting the air tank to match my truck since i will be putting it inside the bed. either on the top side or on the beds front wall near the cab up high near the rail.
just kinda not sure about air tanks ratings since most dont say rattings and some that do say 150working pressure but tested twice there working pressure, some day 200psi max. hell id rather have overkill strong than a tank blowin up on me! even tho i dont plan on running 200psi id like to keep it under 180psi preferably, maybe just 150psi.

wow 24views and nobody got any info, dont be shy ;)
anyways i just got done doing a temp install on my new pump. its not working as good as it can because my old pumps leader hose was smaller than the new pumps leader hose so i had to buy some brass fittings to reduce the hose so it would screw into my air tank. so i know some pressure is getting held back with it reduced to go into my tank. it will probably work faster when i get a new air tank. 1/8 to 1/4 :(
specs say 2.5 Gallon Tank Fill Rate 0 To 145 PSI 3 Min. 30 Sec. it fills my 1.5gallon tank to 120psi in 2mins 15seconds. not to bad. my old smaller compressor said 2mins 15seconds but i got it used and it was more like 3-4mins to fill to 120psi. ive had it maybe 2years now and who knows how old it was before i got it! its time to be retired for sure!

just short video i took to show how long it took to air up, of course pops comes out and talks thru most it. which he always seems to do.lol

and before anybody says its bad to have the pump mounted like that sideways, yes i know its only a temp job just so it works. it wouldnt fit between my other fittings just no way to and i dont have the time to build a new shelf right now. next weekend ill build a quick shelf for it to sit on but for now that will have to work. and since it will only be filling maybe afew times it shouldnt hurt it sideways i dont think. ive heard its only bad to permanently mount them sideways since they will wear funny from the pistons weight on the wall.

this is the tank im thinking about using

OR if Aluminum tank is so much better maybe this one

EDIT. ok well i saw a LIVE chat on there website and talked with that guy for awhile.
i orderd a 145psi. Pressure Switch, Inflation Valve 1/4 Tube PTC To Schrader Valve (probably wont use but good to have, ill most likely just hookup a regulator and normal air hose to a tire filler valve to fill tires and such), and a 5 gallon Chrome 6 Port Aluminum Air Tank.
i was going to paint to match but o hell chrome is always nice looking. ;) so i ordered there chrome alum tank.

main reason i liked this tank is because it has that extra fitting so i can mount it on the beds front wall to kinda hide mounting hardware and still have a good drain valve location and i can put each pump on each side on a shelf on the sides if i want to run both pumps. but ill probably just run one for now. anymore and ill have to run a new power wire to the rear, tho i guess ill be reruning it anyways with larger wire at least 4gauge so i can run other electronics in the bed if i want/need to. it is infact my daily driver do all truck. ;)
i also just ordered new hinges for my campershells rear glass since i broke on off th eother way and had to remove it and slap my soft tono cover back on my truck. so with my camper shell back on it should look nice shining thru the glass in chrome. :)
