Looking to upgrade

Hey I have a 1993 regular cab chevy. I'm wanting to redo my whole audio system and my goal is for SQ. So here's my system now:
Boss deck
4 4x6 boss chaos speakers in stock locations(crappy)
12" kicker shallow mount powered by a boss phantom monoblock (1500 watts I think)
the sub is in a box I built behind the seat
I know these weren't the best quality products but I didn't have alot of money when I first did this.

I will be installing everything myself and I want to run an amp to the speakers too.
For now I definitely want to upgrade the speakers. I want to run 6.5's but I don't know what brand.
I will also be putting in bucket seats soon and building a custom center console to put my sub in and possibly the speakers as well. I don't mind cutting my door panels if that will be better for mounting my speakers. I also have an audiobahn amp that I'm not using(got it for free) but I've heard their not a crappy brand. So if someone could please recommend me a system it would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. my budgets not that big of a deal but I don't want to go too crazy. And the music I listen to is country, rap, and rock.

I'm guessing you're looking for coaxial speakers, not components correct? In any case the best thing to do is to go out and listen to different setups. It's too subjective for us to tell you want ones to buy. You make not like the same thing that we recommend

Thanks for replying. Ya I'm looking for coaxial speakers. I guess I mostly just wanted a few suggestions on brands as I don't really know which brands are decent right now. Anything will be better than the speakers I have now.

IMO i'd only consider the JBL's out of your list as far as coaxials go. Look into DLS (ref 426), Image Dynamics (ctx-65), Bravox, and Incriminator Audio as well. The bravox are a pretty good deal right now at SSA's site

Which amp model number is it?

As far as head unit goes SQ won't be affected unless you wanted to change crossover settings, then you'd need a different head unit.

The JBL 662 was the one i was thinking of if you were to go with them.

i believe the 662 has a shallow version as well. So if you do go with them make sure you get the correct set.

I don't see any problem with using that amp. If you were trying to accomplish something different then yes i'd change it, but you should be good with what you're working with

Ok thanks everyone. I know these aren't the best brands for SQ, but it's good enough for me. I'm still in highschool so later on I'll upgrade again. Anyways thanks for all the help. I think I will go with the JBL for now. Last question i have is where would it be better to mount these? Only two options for me are to cut the doors and mount them there or to put them in the center console I'm going to build.

when I had my 94.. I cut into the doors, and door panels... then mounted them there. But I would have preferred them in the kick panels.

Don't mount them in a center console.
