i just bought a 95 6.5td its a 1/2 and it has a fresh 4l80e and transfer case and 3/4 ton rear end with 3.42, i bought it for a tow pig but does anybody know what the limit is to tow thanks

i pulled a 32foot fishing boat with a 100 gallons of fuel in it pulled it with ease with my dads old 97 k1500 6.5 turbo diesel

Your 6.5TD isn't gonna be the thing holding you back from towing, i'm sure you could tow much more than your GVWR says and be fine but the axles won't.

I agree with the above statement that the engine is not the limiting factor. Personally I think put way too much emphasis on the engine for towing when I would be more worried about the ablility to stop, steer, and simply keep the truck on the road.
It is still a 1/2 ton truck, but sounds like one of the most capable 1/2 tons of that era between the engine, trans, and rear axle.
There is a sticker on the driver's door jamb. It will list the weight limits. Your gearing and upgraded rear axle don't increase your vehicles weight limit, only how well it will tow it. You still have a 1/2 ton frame and 1/2 ton brakes
