Where is the thermstat switch for an 06 Pontiac Grand Prix located? I believe it has a 3.4 v6, but not 100% sure.

Thermostat switch? WTF is that, lol. Do you mean the thermostat itself, or maybe the coolant temperature sensor? Your car has a Series 3, 3.8 V6, rpo code L26 provided it's not a GT ( L32 Supercharged) or GXP ( LS4 5.3 V8). The thermostat is obvious as you follow the upper rad hose, it's on the drivers side front corner of the engine on the lower intake manifold. The CTS is located directly below the thermostat housing on the bottom side of the intake.

It's not the coolant temp sensor, and it isn't the thermostat. It is whatever tells the e-fans to come on. I believe that it could be a relay myself. The car isn't mine but someone I know. The fans come on with the a/c but not when the temp is trying to run hot.

The coolant temp sensor tells the PCM to trigger the primary and secondary fans at particular setpoints, of course via fan relays They are dual speed as well and they are marked and in the underhood fuse block.

Honestly is it actually overheating, boiling over and making a mess or just hot on the gauge? Since they come on with the a/c the relays work as do the fans. You need a scanner to watch actual coolant temp and see if it's going over setpoint of fan trigger.

Car probably needs lower intake gaskets, lol.
