Rear suspension question

I have a 2008 Silverado short wide bed standard cab. I want to between a 20" to 24" inch rim 15" inches wide on the rear of the truck. I have read a couple of articles on the web and in Truckin magazine about this installation. They mention narrowing the rear axle a little which is no problem. They also mention flip kits, c notched, springs, hangers and shackles. No my question is, are the rear springs located in the stock position or do they move them inboard or are they using coil over shocks? If anyone has done this in the past please post a pic of the rear suspension.
