Does anyone have one? What did you pay to have it installed or did you do it yourself? Did you have to have a bypass kit?

i installed my own in my '06 Sierra (installer by profession). Viper 5701 with an Xpresskit XK01 bypass module. Yes you will need either a bypass module or be handy with relays/resistors to bypass the vehicles Passlock 2. If you're getting a unit that will also do keyless entry then i highly encourage you to get a bypass that will do both your locks/etc and the Passlock bypass. without the module, locks in the '03-'07 (classic) gm trucks suck

Ive got the same Viper setup on my 07 and love it aside from the times I get called on the radio at work because my truck is running in the parking lot. Needless to say I hit the remote start in my pocket constantly.

How responsive are the locks with the bypass? I know this is a hard question you not knowing my experience level but how hard is the install? I'm not a pro but i'm not new to the the wiring in these trucks by any means either...

turn on the remote's keypad lock. no more accidentally locking/unlocking the doors or accidental remote starts

any difference between the bypass doing locks or say using a factory keyless entry unit is negligible, it's never bugged me at all. as far as the install, they don't get much easier than these trucks to be honest. all wiring connections are made at the ignition harness coming down the steering column, the BCM which is also right under the steering column, the brake pedal which is right behind the BCM and one wire at the OBD2 plug. other than that you have the remote start's antenna, hood pin and siren (if an alarm). you can even get a tach signal at the gauge cluster if you so desire but to be honest, DEI's virtual tach has been very good to me
