If everything is wired correct and still not transmitting or recieving then my first guess would be that your finals are fried. take it to a CB shop and have them test it. Might be something simple like SWRs tho, have you checked them?

if your swrs are off you'll have issues and fry the motherboard in it

Yeah I agree. Get a good external SWR meter and check those first. Could be finals but that usually wont knock out the receive. Could be a number of things. Have you checked all the switches to make sure they are in the right place (not trying to be a smarta$$ I have done it myself)? Do you have anything at all any static? What kind of radio is it?

this maybe a dumb question but what are the swrs? and if the mother board is fried wouldn't it just completely not work or turn on at all?

SWR is Standing Wave Ratio. You generally want those below 1.5:1 anything above that ratio and it could hurt the radio.

yes all the switches are in the right places. and no static at all. its like the antenna isn't even connected (which it is) and its a cobra 40 channel i believe

Glad you figured it out. Dont worry I have done the same kinda thing on mine before. I have also had it in the PA position and spent 2 days trying to figure out what is wrong with it. You runnin a 102 stainless steel whip on yours? Thats what I am running too.
