I am contemplating both of these systems for my 2009 Sierra. The Advent OGM-1 is an OEM-styled and looks factory and appears to have more features and is cheaper than the GM Nav system. The GM system is, of course, the actual OEM unit designed for the truck that boots up quicker. The Advent requires its own bluetooth mic and the steering wheel controls, while almost 100% compatible, there is a little lost functionality (mostly when working with XM). The GM system requires you to purchase a new DVD for Nav updates. The Advent unit runs its Nav system off of an SD card, and Nav updates cost around $69. It also seems that new firmware is available for the Advent fairly regularly that adds/changes the units' functionality.

Anyway, what do you guys on this board prefer? I think I can get the OGM-1 for about $1,000. The OEM unit from GM is about $1,300 but would also require an additional module to allow playing of DVD and other functions while driving.

I just bought the OGM-1 i should have it next week. I went to my dealer about the factory nav, and they told me it could not be done in my truck.
I have heard of people putting factory nav in a non bose truck like mine is but i have also heard of people having problems having the dealer program
the factory nav so i went with the advent, alot of people say it is great.

I've heard the same thing you have, but I have now seen dealers on the web that are carrying OEM GM Nav radios that will work in non-Bose trucks and require no programming. They are about $300 more than what you can get the OGM-1 for.

Just wondering how everything turned out with the OGM1 you purchased?
I work for Invison Automotive and we are the OEM headrest supplier for GM.
We also sell the all of the Advent navigation systems and would be happy to address any questions / concerns you may have.

I got a OEM unit with nav and dvd off ebay and everything works great. My truck is a 09 without bose have had zero problems.
The unit was unlocked so no trip to dealership and I did go with the lockpick to watch dvd if I wanted to while driving.
Comes with everything you need to install. Easy to install also , took me about an hour.
If you call them vs bid you get alittle break on price. Only other thing is that it lights up red vs stock white/green look.

I work for a company that has sold GM Specific Nav /Multi media units from ROSEN Entertainment ... looks jus like the ones posted above.. but they don't have a very good reputation and the ones that we have sold were sent back cause they were crap.. and not worth the $$ .. "comments from the customers were not positive" They look cool and all but jus aren't the best quality for the money. If someone has this unit already and it works for you great... "Im not trying to bash any one on here " I myself have an Older Eclilpse AVN 40D and it has Nav and plays DVDS and I drive an 03' Silverado 2500HD .. I had to trim the back of the dash for the radio to fit cause its a double din, but it had no affect on the structure of the dash.. You can find these units on ebay or ..( mitocorp.com ) I hope this helps anyone out thats interested. These units can also be hooked up to a back up camera which comes in handy when you have a lifted truck and can't see those small ass cars behind/below you.
