My dad has a 2006 Sierra club cab 4x4, 5.3, 4L60E. Has around 65k on it.
A year or so after he got the truck he went to take off from a light and the truck wouldnt move, it would just rev up so he tried different gears and same thing so he kept reving higher and higher and nothing, waited a little then reved it in gear again and around 4 grand it made a loud bang and it started working. He had to limp the truck to the dealership cause it would barely move(good thing he was close) they changed some stuff but he cant rememeber what they changed.
All was well till last week and it did it again but this time it did it and then it worked fine after, so he has been driving it but scared to cross an intersection incase it does it again. He barely drives the truck as you can tell by his mileage.
Any ideas on what it could be? he did say that this time he was in 2wd and after the truck had its little tantrum and started working again it was in auto trac but he didnt press that. Could it possibly be transfer case?
Any ideas?
Thanks Mitch.
