Can anyone tell me whether or not the seat out of a 76 Chevy truck will bolt in on an 87 without having to drill new holes?

I'm pretty sure they bolt right in, but I'm not 100%

I think all the seats from 1973 to 1987 are interchangeable. When I replaced my 1978 seat, all the replacements used the same bracket kits for the 1973 to 1987 model years, and there weren't multiple holes in the brackets or anything like that.
So, not quite 100% sure, but next thing to it.

Direct bolt-in.

Speaking of bolts, use new ones, and clean out the holes with a tap first. Be sure not to drive the tap into the gas tank! A "bottom tap" has a square end and is probably the best choice.
GM calls out 3/8" -16 x 1-1/8" long, but the last eighth-inch is a tapered point. I used Grade 8, 3/8"-16 x 1", because 1-1/8" are hard to find.
Menards has both the bolts and the tap.
