So I was at the parts store today talking with one of the counter guys that crisply knows his stuff and he's kinda got me spooked at putting in my shift reprograming kit in my 4L80e tomorrow cuz I mite break the sun shell or something if it shifts to hard. Any thoughts and opinions on this? I was planning on setting it up to the firm setting from what the instructions told me. Is this not such a good idea? My suburban only has 115k on it. To me that's middle ground not high miles. But to each his own I guess. I'm still gonna do it but I would hate to have to buy a new tranny in just a few weeks.

I thought that sounded fishy. So what do I need to worry about breaking. Keep in mind I don't tow and this is a daily driver. I just like to floor it a few times a day lol.

Ummm the 4l80eI should take all you can throw at it once the kit is installed. There are junkyard 80es with kits running 9 second quarter mile times in heavy trucks.

So I shouldn't be afraid of putting it on the firm setting?

Are you installing a shift kit or a programmer?
