I have never owned a NBS only OBS's so im new to the vortec series.
I was planning a tune up ie, Plugs, wires, oil, trans maybe ?
For upgrades i was going to go with high flow cat but are there two cats on these trucks ?
I was going to go with thrush welded mufflers as i have on my OBS's
Just looking for a project NBS really im leaving in July for National Guard training so its going to be my project for a while and hopefully sooner or later my DD
What should i look for when buying a nbs ?
I prefer a single cab but most i find only have the v6, i would prefer a v8 ~ 5.3 how do these small trucks with the v6 handle / run ?

Thats the one I would go with. Throw a custom tune on it after a tune up, and you should be good to go.

It may have high miles, but run it until it blows, then buy another used 5.3 for $500-1000 or throw a 6.0 in there at that point.

Yup I agree with outlaw don't worry about the engine the truck look very straight, sell the wheels and u have some money back already. After engine goes bad, just like he said get a new 5.3 or 6.0 for $700-$1000

I'd see if the guy with the blue silverado would knock money off to swap back to stock wheels.
A v6 should've never been put in a fullsize truck. Worse mileage than the v8s, and way down on power.

I like the blue truck, save for the silly wheels. Regardless, I'd hold out for a 5.3 truck, because why not.
I'd do a corvette servo as an easy mod to clean up some of the shifting. (http://www.oregonperformancetransmission.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=OPTI&Product_Code=NTP-K51828C)
It's cheap, and has a nice effect on the 1-2/2-3 shifting.
Skip a CAI, useless, a drop in air filter if you are really eager to spend your money.
Get a tune up, then have the truck tuned, by either BlackBear, Wheatly, Nelson, whatever, just not Superchip of any of the crap.
Other than that, unless you want to go cam/stall/full exhaust, I'd just drive the thing, and focus more so on exterior mods/ sound system things.

Get a LS series, and get a 5.3L of those. The 6.0L would be nice down the road but realistically I only felt my 5.3L lacking a few times, and that was with a big load behind it.
Your budget on mods, goals, et.c would be needed to give any worthwhile advice there.

Budget on mods is 500-1K
Not really a fan of a CAI system wife wanted one on her 2006 chevy colbalt and well nothing really interesting to say about that.
A good filter is good enough for me i do like the corvette servo suggestion how ever. But with that would you recommend a trans cooler ? I already have a trans temp pod i plan on putting in a long with a vac gauge
Really just wanting a single cab with a 5.3 not really a fan of ext cab but if i cant find a single cab with a 5.3 well ill take the jump to a ext cab,

Id offer the blue truck owner 3500 cash. Basic tuneup and drive it for a bit, then start modding .

Yes. The 4L60e is weak, and a transmission cooler helps keep the fluid temps down enough to prevent it burning itself up (which it does, often). Regardless of what truck it is, I always advise a transmission cooler that's separate and larger from the factory one.
A tune, gears (if going to bigger tires), transmission cooler, Corvette servo will serve you well for a daily driver.

@ DarkCharisma
yeah in both of my OBS trucks i have gone through two 4l06-e in one and one in the other,
So Servvo + trans cooler.
I called the guy with the blue truck said if he had it this up coming weekend we will talk but he was going to have to come down on the price so we'll see.

Blue truck looks good, and you can probably sell those 23's to some ghetto rat for a few months' of their SS extortion without much trouble.

Yes, there are two cats. One on each side of the Y pipe.
The 5.3L is a great engine :naughty: http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/hrdp_1109_stock_gm_ls_engine_big_bang_theory/
Let us know what you get!
