I have the alpine CDA-117 and everytime I go on to my USB songs It has certain songs that say unsupported? I look for the song on my flash drive but there not there. Its like there saved on the head unit or somthing.

if you use windows its most likely your computer's fault. I use itunes on my computer and it always loses songs or claims that they are unsupported. The computer keeps a ghost copy but while cleaning or updating itself it loses the files no matter if i download them off the internet, itunes or a cd. It could be too that the song simply won't play because of its kbps and the speed of them. Don't know much about kbps but alot of the time i get unsupported sings when the computer can't convert it to the correct speed, which is 126 or 128 i believe. Anyway this is just my personal experience but i'm sure theres people on the forum who know what the deal is or can explain it better than me. But i seriously doubt the hu is downloading the songs w/o your acknowledgement

They could be hidden files. Go into the folder properties and tick the option "Show Hidden Files." If that doesn't work format the drive and throw the music back on there again.

Im using a mac book so Its prob not the computer problem. Ill have to search for the hiden files. If this helps anymore It will still do it even if I use a different usb drive too.

Well if it's doing it with multiple drives it's most likely the deck. I've never owned a Mac so I don't know how the transferring of files go. I have the same deck but have never hooked a flash drive to it, only my iPhone. I'll try it out here after awhile. I would say there's only one more thing to do to narrow the problem down. Try a drive filled off a PC and see if you have the same problem. Make sure to format the drive though.

The stereo. Maybe it's a California thing or derives from cassette deck. I'm not sure.

Just tried it and everything was fine. I put two albums in different folders and couldn't duplicate your problem. All of my music was in mp3 format. I formatted the flash drive before i put the music on it and there wasn't any album artwork or info files. I also used a PC. Hope this helps.

I can take a brand new flash drive with nothing on it and the songs come up and when I try to play them they are unsupported. Its so weird I dont know whats wrong with it.

I have no idea then. Didn't think it had a cache for audio files but who knows. Try unplugging it to reset the memory or unhooking your battery. There might be a paper clip reset button but I can't remember seeing one. I know there's a banking feature. If you don't have the manual, here it is: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CFAQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.abt.com%2Fdocuments%2F24810%2 Fcda117_manual.pdf&ei=g3EcT_7ZKpHKiAKmn5HeCA&usg=AFQjCNG10bh-0FiLMrlyoQsOOEps7Xym7Q&sig2=8Xlaiq4tZYVxik5fiPVKDQ
