New to the forum, getting ready to buy a 1968 C10, but I have some questions first that I was hoping some of the guru's could help me answer.
1. I am a pretty big guy and just barely fit in the drivers side. Does someone make a shorter steering column that will give me some more room?
2. It has an inline 6 with a 3 speed manual transmission. (probably the original one) I am going to take that out and replace it with a small block and either a powerglide or turbo 400. Do I need to change out the front suspension to handle the motor swap? It is going to get new bushings and suspension parts anyway.
3. The gas tank is behind the seat still and that is a big issue for me. Does anyone make a relocation kit or is there someone that makes an aftermarket tank that is located in the frame rails?
4. Did the '68's come with alternators or generators and how can I tell if someone has already changed it over? If they had generators, what do I need to do to convert it to an alternator?
