So as I am sure lots of people know if you look at the history of the 5.3 or many other motors you can see that it gets a little more power every year. I know some of this is a little more clearance here, found a problem here but is that really all it takes to go from what I think was 170 something the motor had in 2009 to the 310 or more it may have now?

What do you guys think/know learning as they go or marketing junk?

And if you are wondering I have a 2000 and my dad has had a 2003 and now a 2009 just wondering why the increased get up in the newer models. BTW they are all the same cab and models 1500 extended cab z71 4x4s

Are they changing the compression, head flow, cam profiles, making it more efficient? I have wondered how they manage to squeeze extra power out of some motors.

The newer style (07+) engines have different head and intake designs, as well as different cams.
