So i am going to finally do the system in my 1995 2 door tahoe, its going to be kinda slow going as the garage is fairly full so not a lot of room to move around but there is lots of stuff i can take care of till the weather in north chicago gets nice enough to start doing working in the driveway. anyways i started working on the pillars today. Each pillar is going to have 2 Image Dynamics ctx6 speakers in it and each set will be feed by a rockford fosgate punch 360@2. i got to work on the pillars today for about 2 hours one is almost completed and i need to finish wrapping and glassing the other, its already fabed up with the speaker rings. here is a list of all the gear for it. also a pic of some of my audio gear i have stashed.

Headunit:
Kenwood Double Din TV
Subs:
5 Alumapro alchemy mx12's

Sub Amps:
2 rockford fosgate power 1100@2 with link

Highs:
Front 6 Image Dynamics ctx6
Rear 2 Image Dynamics ctx6

High amps:
Front 3 Rockford Fosgate 360@2
Rear Rockford Fosgate 200@4

DSP:
Rockford Fosgate EPX2

Power:
Ill be building one 220A Alt and then making a bracket for a factory alt as well. 2 kinetik 2400 batts

Ill post up some better pics of the pillar tomorrow it got late tonight and i took that one after i glassed it to see both speakers in it real quick, that one needs about another 45mins of sanding/body filling to be ready for paint now.

So here is a pic of what the driver side pillar looked like when i stopped last night, i will get back to work on them tonight when i get home from work around midnight and hopefully finish the driver side completely by tomorrow and be close to finished on the passenger side one.http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f23/91hondapreludesi/CIMG8480.jpg

well i broke the driver side pillar today, set it down turned around to grab something then i turned back around and stepped on it and broke the pillar in half, oh well i wasnt really happy with the angles on that one anyways so no off to the pick n pull tomorrow to grab another driver side pillar. today i reworked the passenger side pillar to give me some better speaker angles wrapped it and glassed it when get home from work tonight i will start body filling it, i will probably snap off a couple of pics of it installed in the truck tomorrow so you all can get an idea of what its going to look like, I'm hoping that i will have both pillars done by the weekend so that i can start fiberglassing for the rear ctx6's.

changed plans, new front pillars are in the making, i decided to upgrade the door speakers as well so not going to need as much speaker in the pillars so now they are getting an alumapro 1" tweet and Dayton Reference series 5". just started on the new pillars last night and they are currently sitting in body filler drying, i think I'm going to be much happier with this setup in the end.

careful with those daytons, i had the 6.5" referance and had a few tear at the coil and cone joint.

you are the first person I've heard say anything negative about them. how hard were you pushing yours? what frequency did you cross them at? mine will be crossed at 2k so there will not be a whole lot of movement from the speaker

they sounded great, but dident last long. dident push them hard, had 4 per channel of a SAX 125.2 at 4ohm they were crossed over at 125. had 2 tear them selves apart the same way. i had 4 per door and each door has the same issue. so im not sure if it was my fault, or the enlosure. as they were sealed.. but they hardly moved as they dident get much power. so its either a terrible glue joint, or a bad glue joint mixed with a sealed enclosure.

i know several people who run the dayton RS speakers and i have never heard of this issue before, well i will also be getting a set of the Dayton RS 7" for the doors as well to cover the lower frequencies for the mids as well as putting some new vitas in the stock tweeter location.

thats the one i was running. not to sure what caused the issue but i have upgraded now so not to big of a deal. just a bit frusterating i shelled out the cash to upgrade to 8 of those only to start exploding them. not to sure if the subs had anything to do with it or not. oh well, thats part of the audio game

That's pretty neat, I love the look of speakers built like that, not just the cheap square boxes.

couple of update pics, these should be finished early next week as my sam color matched interior paint won't be here until monday, so i might have to start on the rear of the truck come this weekend if i get the pillars all finished out and ready for paint by the weekend. anyways here is a pic of the driver side pillar i just have some quick sanding to finish out on it and then i have to sand out the passenger side one as its still in its first layer of filler.

yeah the new pillars are more what i like too, i had the image dynamics ctx6's sitting around new in the box and wanted to use them so i made something for them and never was all that happy with them so i went with something i like. as for the amps there will be 3 punch 360@2's, good for around 450-475 RMS each, one to each sub there are also 2 punch 200@4's one 200@4 for the pillars and one for the doors, the pillars are going to be getting 35-40 RMS for the woofers and tweets each which consist of an alumapro 1" tweet and a dayton reference 5" and the doors will be getting a vifa 3/4" silk dome tweeter put in the factory position and they will see around 35-40 RMS and the factory 6.5's will be replaced with a set of MB Quart reference 6.5's woofers. the rear speakers will remain stock and run off of the headunit just for some rear fill. still hoping to have everything finished by mid to late april providing the weather provides me with a couple of days to go out and get some work done on it.
