Okay, so my buddies have told me Flowmaster makes a one chamber series muffler and it's a 40 series. Is that true? I want something that has that deep throaty growl for my Chevy 5.7L

I am pretty sure the ones I had on my camaro were single chamber 40 series. Now this was also about 15 years ago when i bought them.

40 Series are all 2 chamber. 10 series is 1 chamber. A 10 series isn't as bad as other Flowmasters. IMO, save your money for a nice quality muffler that will actually benefit your truck. Spintech, Borla, Corsa, Bassani, etc. Money talks when it comes to exhaust.

What was mentioned above, the 40 series are 2 chamber, and the 10 series is 1 chamber, and much louder. I've had flowmasters on all my trucks I've ever owned, also had glasspacks as well, the FM gets the job done for what I like, although have considered recently switching to a 10 series or CBE. I've never run the Spintech, heard they are nice tho, I'm sure you will be happy with whatever route you go. :)

Nobody down here in the little town of Muskogee, owns them. So it'll be different. :D

I have the flowmaster super 10 single chamber. Its got a great growl to it. Nice throaty sound when you jump on it. Its just about what sound you like. If you want aggressive then this is a very good option. Imho most big brand mufflers are all built close to the same. Some might have a little bit better welds on them or look cooler or sound a bit different but they are just mufflers. None are going to give you much of any power advantages over another. They are more or less just for sound or sound dampning.

There are alot of owners of vehicles with turbos that would say otherwise

True, but I still think a muffler is just a muffler. Thats it. The exhaust system in a whole is a different story though.

A muffler can make or break an exhaust imo.
