View Full Version : Header question, vortec 350, long tubes

I would like to put headers on my truck, couple questions, what does a person do with the o2 sensors? Do the headers have a spot for them, also, on the rear of the drivers side manifold I noticed a crossover tube that goes to the intake, what gets done with that? What brand is a good suggestion for a set of headers? thanks

l like my hookers....any reputable builder will aready have the o2 bungs in place depending on specifications...year and vehicle would help others help you

Pacesetters come with everything in them already for a Vortec truck. 1 5/8" primaries with 3" collector. The tube on the drivers manifold is for the EGR valve, and is present for the Pacesetters.

Any small block long tube for the chassis will work if you want to delete the EGR, which of course requires tuning.

Cool thanks guys, and sorry, keep forgetting, its a 97 suburban, and about the EGR, does it just get plugged? If I were to put headers on I would probably delete it. thanks

Yeah if it fits the trucks it fits the Suburban. The EGR valve can just be removed right off the intake manifold and just block the hole if you plan to remove the system.

Another question about the headers, if I get a set for say a 94(non vortec) they bolt up right, just don't have the egr passage, correct? Can I run it that way without getting the tune at the very same time? And if I get them for the 94 I would most likely have to add a fitting for the O2 sensors right? Just trying to get a plan set for adding things.

if you get headers for an older truck, you have to add an o2 sensor into the collector on one of the headers, the old truck only have one front o2...and if you dont delete the egr with a tune you will have a engine code until you do. i would just tune it first, and get a block off plate off of ebay and remove the egr valve

Ok, so it will run ok with the EGR removed, just the light would be on? I checked with blackbear on a tune, and what all questions they ask, to see if that has any influence on other mods I make, thanks!!

correct, its runs fine without, besides the light
