I'll see about getting a little better picture that shows the truck "after" just like the first "before" picture for better comparison.

Wow, I would kill for that stock interior in my truck! I would have kept it the way it was. Looks like you did a great job on everything though.

I love the door inserts and the black carpet on the floor, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of the checkered flap look of the headliner. It looks like you did a good job laying the fabric down though.

It's definitely not for everyone. As with anyones build, someone will always wonder "wtf" on certain things....and I knew by doing this I'd get that reaction a lot...but its mine and I like it so that's what matters. Thanks for the input.

Amen to that, again good job. It's not like no other which makes it look nice.

I couldn't visualize it outside the truck but I like it now that I see it installed. How did you install the insert in the door? Mine are plastic welded and I was tying to figure out how to reinstall them if I pull them off and cover them.

The door panels were super easy on mine. The insert was actually just a panel that was held on only by about 8 "christmas tree" type clips, so with a screwdriver handle I was just able to pop them through, slap some material on it and pop it back on. If you have the plastic welds...I'd recommend drilling them out with the smallest bit possible...then adding those clips since they are flat on the visible side. just be sure they are bigger than the hole you drilled out so it will be snug again...then cover over them with some thing hard foam so you won't see any imperfections, and then you can just pop it back on. Clips are cheap from any parts store/collision parts store.
Good luck and thanks for checkin' my thread out.

So I got grilled a little on my wiring on my stereo install thread so I figured I'd post a pic of my "redo". All of the wiring was hidden anyway, but now that I took some extra time and wasn't rushing to have it finished already, I am much happier with the way it turned out.

This looks good. I want to do something similar in my 06, but not using the same material probably. I was thinking of doing like a dark grey suede. Kind of overdone, but still shnazzy. Anyone ever see the foam underlays people use to leave patterns underneath? I always thought that was kind of cool.

The foam used to do raised or sunken graphics is what I used to cover the whole headliner board on mine prior to putting the material over it to give it a stiff, crisp finish. It's called Closed Cell foam. It just doesn't compress like normal foam so you are left with clean tight edges. You can also use some different wood/abs plastic/paneling to make super hard lines when doing custom door panels like you see on a lot of the flat panels in old rods. They are definitely cool if done right, but can be a bit tough depending on the design. They always ad some personality.

I've got some of those push in holders from when I did my headliner so I guess I'll drill out the plastic welds and give those a try. Thanks for the info.

Seeing those door panels makes me want to try that on my Suburban. Looks great to me.
