My 95 is starting to get tired, looking into rebuild options and gain a little bit of power. I have a set of vortec heads off of a 99 suburban that id like to use and get an intake to use the TBI on it yet. What im wondering is if i should build completely off the 99 motor and transfer the tbi when i swap or to use the block in it now and just trow the vortec heads on it. Not looking for a ton of power out of it, id be happy with 350 to 400 out of it. As electronics go, how bad is it to reprogram it for the new power, is there a place i can get a chip burned or do i need the ecm reprogrammed. Any help would be great guys thanks

I have been looking into a motor swap recently myself. From what Ive found is that you need to adapt the vortec heads to tbi by installing a carb intake with an adapter plated for the tbi. you can look at some other forums on tbi and it will give you some great links on the ecm and how to reprogram and options you have. I dont think your situation is that uncommon so you should be able to find some good info on it. As far as which block to use its up to you but personally I wouldn't put new heads on a tired motor. I would make sure whichever block I used was either fresh or low mileage.
