these say you put them on the bottom of the coil. does it matter where you put a spacer? i mean could you get the same lift from the bottom of the coil vs the top of the coil?

plus it says no compressor needed... how would you get these in with out a compressor?

hopefully this hasnt already been discussed.

I thought they went on the bottom? Thats how I put my springtechs. And either way you are going to need a spring compressor

silveradoboy

did you have any problem with them on the bottom?

No they work just fine and I got the full amount of lift out of them. I've actually never heard of having them on top, but I dont see why they would work on top either

hmm, i;ve never really looked at it but it just doesn't seem like there is enough of a pocket on the bottom, but obviously there is!:eyecrzy:

did your spacer look just like the ones in the link in the op?

ive got the spring compressors that goes on the outside of the coil can i use that one or do i need the one that goes up the center?

Ive never seen the one that goes on the outside, I used the one that goes up the middle. But anything that will compress the spring will help get the spacer in. and heres a link to the one that I got

Those are the same spacers I have.

My spacers are also located on the bottom. A trick that we did when we lifted was ziptie the spacer to the bottom and then put it all back together. Im still rolling along fine.

what compressor did you use? the ones that go up the center or on the sides of the coil?

Pretty easy install, compressor is kind of a pain but other than that not bad. An I also zipped it

im fairly certain you HAVE to use the compressor that goes on the outside. there would be no way to get it out if it was on the inside.

Its pretty easy you just reach your hand in there and untighten it

no compressor needed, just a floor jack. Put mine in at the bottom. I have installed a few, all you need is a jack. I electrical taped mine, but I'm sure a zip tie would would just as well.Of course, a compressor is safer if your worried about it, but not necessary the way I do them.

I was gonna say that as well, cause we debated on whether or not to use a compressor and decided to use it.

a lot of the spring compressors will shoot of and not compress the spring enough when me and my buddy were doing mine we decided to use a hydraulic press it worked great!!!

CJLinder
02-12-2012, 09:12 PM
That would be pretty handy. I didnt have any problem with the compressor but you could wrap a chain around the spring and connect it to somethign on the truck if you were scared it was going to shoot out haha

03greenmachine

well I had the spring compressor shoot off and cut my hand open. I don't like em . the press worked great if you have one laying around haha

Yeah I did, but I'm about to switch from the spacers to 3" coils an UCA's. I've got a little too much rake for my liking and instead of going down a size in block I figured why not just go higher in the front

03greenmachine

I mean for about the same you could go with 3 inch RC spindles its a lot easier to install IMO and you can run spindles and spacer for a 5 inch lift

I already have RC spindles and the spacer with 3" blocks. Im at a 5/3 now I have about a little over an inch of rake so thats why I'm gonna switch to the 3" coil and it should level it out pretty good

03greenmachine

or run stock z71 blocks and you'll sit level that's what I'm running and I sit complete level

yeah i think it helps to have the metal ones over the poly's, for the sagging over time issue

i have springtech on the top of the coil for about 3yrs now and no issues here...i replaced my daystars with the springtech as the daystars will sag over time..been running an RC spindle lift and spacer for about 5yrs now with no issues. I finally replaced all ball joints, tie rod ends and bushing up front..truck is smoother then its ever been
