I have been looking into adding headers to my 97 burb, started thinking, what would I gain. What did those of you notice for gains by doing this, did you notice power gains, mpg gains? And did you get it tuned when done?

to be honest, with the right muffler, it is the best thing you can do as far as bolt ons go, i had pacesetter longtubes on my 97 tahoe. i used the supplied reducers with band clamps and then had the muffler shop run 2.5" from the collectors, into a dual 2.5" to single 3" Magnaflow Y (costs only $26), no cats, but theres room for them if u need em, then into an 18" magnaflow. i noticed about a 1-1.5 mpg increase, and unbelivable throttle response and power increase. it was night and day. i could roast the tires until i decided it was enough. and it sounded like an eargasm
i had a custom tune prior which deleted the egr and rear o2 sensors so it was already tuned and ready to go
i have a couple youtube videos under this same username but it just doesnt do it justice unless ur computer has a sub or something u just wont understand how good it sounded

Cool, thanks! I will check out the vids! What size were the collectors, I noticed some I looked at were 2.5" not the 3" I am use to seeing. Right now I have no cats, dual pipes to dual in dual out flowmaster muffler, which is about to rust through, and dual 2.25" tailpipes. I am looking into a magnaflow muffler.

yea, Magnaflow is proven performance and great sound, with headers my 18" magnaflow was pretty dang loud, plenty for me, plus i had an electric cutout when i wanted to make some noise. mine were 3" collector, and came with 3" x 2.5" reducers and i ran dual 2.5" into single 3" from there
