View Full Version : 12 vs 18 inch Bullets

Setup will be stock manifolds and cats on a 5.3 dumped before the axle, pipe(s) coming later.

My local parts store has the 12 inch in stock, I'm wondering if I should go with that one or have them order the 18 inch for me.

I know the standard "longer is deeper/quieter" and I've been searching all over, but is there really that much sound/volume difference between these two??

go with the 12s, the ls engines really arent that loud with stock manifolds and cats still in place. Even straight pipes arent real loud with those still on.

It's a matter of personal preference, but I prefer the 18's over the 12's any day of the week. There is a noticeable difference in tone. WOT, there's not a terrible amount of difference in how loud the two are, but at idle, the 18's is quieter.

you also have a what,a 350? Ls engines sound complete different and it takes a lot more removing to get a lot of sound out of them.

12's for sure, I have a single 18", but I also have LT's and a high flow cat and it is pretty loud, so 12's would be good for you.

Your truck is one of my favs. Definitely nice! Where'd you get the small round LEDs from? I'd love some of them.

I ended up getting the 12. If it weren't snowing I'd go put it on. I found some more vids of 5.3s with stock manifolds and cats and the 18 seemed a little more quiet than what I want :D. I like the volume with no muffler, just want to clean up the tone slightly

Also, when I took the blowmaster off I saw an increase in Fuel mileage. This last week without it I sat at idle and revved waay more than usual and saw at least a .5 increase in mileage. This week I'll get a better idea of a comparable change.
