Im about to do my own exhaust work on my truck and I was wondering about the pros and cons of an x pipe.

The x-pipe will help balance out the exhaust pluses from each bank and improve the scavanging effect. If you dont want to buy an x-pipe though, you could weld up your own h-pipe and it would be almost as good for a lot cheaper. Another option is to use a dual-in-dual out muffler, which acts like a crossover pipe

Ok so other than the sound does it offer any performance gains?

x pipes are a more midrange to high end hp setup, power gains were very noticeable on my novas built 355, but for milder motors i cant tell ya what to expect out of it. not to mention with bein in a truck, as am92 stated, h-pipe would be a good idea, great torque and good mid-high range, or you can always go with a y. unless your over 400 a single 3in will be plenty.

also if your changin the whole exhaust setup, do youself a favor and save up for some LT headers, do a 3in catless y-pipe and a single 3in back
