350 Vortec to.....well, another 350 Vortec.

Recently my engine had a nasty knock in it, I thought I ran it out of oil (since it burned so much) but that wasn't the case. Drove it home the night it had died on me, with the oil pressure going from 60 to 40 to 0 as I got onto my road, it died again. I coasted with no power steering or brakes. I figured out the anti-freeze was getting into my block, even though I have been driving it for about 10,000 miles and it's just now biting me in the ass. So, I went down to the local dealership, Karl-Tyler, and picked myself up a brand new 5.7L 350 Vortec and had a guy in town install it for me for only $250. Pretty cheap huh? Only 1,500 miles on it so far, and I do notice the difference in power, though I haven't really gotten on it yet.

I am thinking about swapping out my motor with a new one?, what are my best options, with price being a factor?

If the heads are in good shape I would say get a Vortec short block and move everything over.
