I have a 93 chevy silverado 1500 with a 5.7tbi
I want to put true duals on it. The setup would be pipes comming off header to 2 flowmaster super 44 with sum 4x18 tips, either 45's or straight out the back.

Now my questions are, since im takin off my cat, will the check engine light go off?
Also will this setup have alot of pop sound to it? Thanks

The setup will be $400 but i want to add an x or h pipe, how much extra will this cost?
Or will a single di/do super 44 be a better idea?
Will this be cheaper? How will it sound? I want loud and aggressive, i hate that pop noise

If you use an x pipe or an h pipe it would not be true duals. a single super44 would be cheaper and i would think it would be louder since you would be silenceing both sides of the motor with one muffler. IMO if you want it to sound aggressive it has to pop. I would go with one 44 out to duals because it would be cheaper and souldn't pop much if any.

I feel like im being subtlety trolled with all the "true dual" threads.

Just do a nice single 40 or 44 or Corsa over the axle, cleaner, will sound WAY better, and you wont be mistaken for a 16 year old kid.

You are wrong, it still is true duals, setup properly.
Check engine light won't go off, but a high flow cat is cheap and better to run. it won't pop really.

In lamens terms, true duals are both exhaust pipes ran by themselves, not tied into one with a Y pipe, H pipe, or X pipe.

You make it sound like you used facts and smart answers, you have used nothing but bad spelling and lamen terms. you can run seperate pipes and connect them with an h or x and they still be true duals, just setup properly. Y pipe is a different game.

being completely serious here.

OP, if you could post up why you want duals, I'd appreciate it....Is it a fad or something? I honestly dont see whats special. I can understand CBs and toolboxes and back racks. Their functional/they are what your area does for mods....but I just dont see the point in pipes. They sound...terrible if im being completely honest.

yea true duals are unneccessary in 99% of cases, do a good single 3" setup with whatever muffler you want, magnaflow, dynomax, borla, corsa, spintech would be best but whatever u choose

single 3" is fine for up to like 600hp

There is nothing wrong with dual exhaust. Is it a waste of money? Depends. It could be as much of a waste of money as colourmatching mirrors and emblems, or as much of a waste of money as a lowering kit or roll pan, or lift kit and mud grips to cruise the street, or enough bass to kill a small monkey.

I think some of you feel like "true duals" are the same thing as "straight pipes". The video posted above is of a truck with dual straight pipes. I would never do that to any vehicle I own, dead or alive. When did the rule change to state that true duals cannot have mufflers on them? Did I miss the memo? Must have.

touche

but for duals i wouldnt go bigger than dual 2-1/2 if thats what u really want

i personally would run dual 2-1/4, should be plenty on a TBI 350

I have a 98 chevy with the vortec 350, it has true duals with a 14 inch magnaflow dual in dual out. It has 2 and 1/2 inch pipe going into 4 inch tips. I have no cats and the engine light will never go off but it runs fine with no problems. My truck has hardly any pop to it what so ever.

Have a 99 Suburban with 350 Vortec. Have Magnaflow cats and a DI/DO Magnaflow with 2 1/4 pipes going out the sides. Sounds great, not too loud and no pop.
