Well I had always had a bug to own an obs so back in 2009 I bought this 90 chevy with a 350/auto pw wind/locks that I owned for a couple of months but the frame was bent due to po going into a ditch and the driver side tire hit something and also hit the fender and the truck wouldn't drive straight and when I bought the truck I thought it was the control arm that was bent(per the po, said took it to a shop and was the lca) go figure.
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z164/jose_1984/nwtruck3.jpg
Then one day I saw this 96 for sale and traded the 90 for it plus some cash. I knew I would need to change things so it wouldn't look so 90's. It is a 2wd 5.7, auto, pw/windows locks etc with the Mark III conversion.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z164/jose_1984/blue4.jpg

So right away I started to remove crap off, started with the vinyl stickers

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z164/jose_1984/IMG00057-20090627-1411.jpg

Those wheels were ugly as sin, so I bought new wheels for it, can't remember the brand but they were 18's and different tailights and removed the running boards

I didn't really felt those wheels were the right choice so couple of months passed by and I bought some 20's off fast95 and got some smoked tail lights

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z164/jose_1984/bluet.jpg

Later I bought a 3/4 drop and new exhaust with duals exit to the back

couple of months later I was broke due to job changes so I sold the 20's and put stock style wheels. Also we had a hail storm so at this point it had hail damage so the insurance comp gave me some money :)

Time passes some more I ditch the chrome tips and decided to go 4/6, for time being I did the flip kit

Looking good! That's cool that they let you work on your own vehicle in those night classes. One school I looked into would only allow you to work on the vehicles they supplied.

thanks, you should, it's something that I always wanted to learn to do, it's great b/c I get to paint it for less money then if I would of taken it to a body shop and I know it's done right. My instructor is pretty cool too, he also has an obs that he painted that has a custom hood and bumper it's a pretty nice truck plus he has like 30+ years of experience

Just read thru. Nice truck like many others have said. I have ALSO said (for such a long time) that I should take classes to learn to paint. How long was the course and what all do they cover? I bought my truck with the intent of having an inexpensive canvas to work on and learn to paint and weld anyway, besides always wanting an OBS every since my dad bought his new.

So...is the new paint going to be a light color or a dark color? We should get hints.

Its auto body paint and refinish 1 and 2, my brother took the first semester and he fixed his gf car then for a couple of classes he worked on my truck a little, then 2nd semester we both took part 2. The instructor had to sign a paper to let me in for part 2 since I didn't took part 1. We took the night classes which is only on Thursdays 6pm-10:15 (we both have full time jobs). There is also a day class that runs from m-f for like 3 hours each day that I had actually started to take back in 2010 but only went a week but due to jobs issues I had to dropped it.
anyways it's something nice to learn and do a project although it is hard on the wallet, but definitely try it

thanks, there is some out there that are not much money

Yeah, I'll have to look up what's available in my area. Hopefully somewhere worth a damn and only if I can use my tuition assistance.

Actually considered starting with a 95/96 but holy shizzz, you can hardly find a clean 2wd RCSB 95/96 Silverado.

Very cool project, man! I had a chance to buy a Mark III Conversion truck (GMC Stepside) a few months back but ended up passing on it cuz the interior was completely shot on it. Looks like your interior is pretty clean, though, and the overall truck was a pretty solid basis for a project. Nice progress!

no cutting I just hit it with a mallet and finished it off with a wooden baseball bat, btw my wheels have a 5.5 backspace

Looks great! Its a good feeling doing the work yourself. I think that thing is screaming for a smoothie front bumper and roll pan though.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again...I absolutely LOVE your truck man! I guess because it's so close to mine, but the color, the wheels, the whole thing just looks perfect! If you ever wanna sell those wheels, please let me know.

This truck looks great. Torch red is my favorite! I once detailed a 1990 vette with that color, and if I ever get the chance to repaint my truck it'll be my choice too. Keep it up!

couple of months later I was broke due to job changes so I sold the 20's and put stock style wheels. Also we had a hail storm so at this point it had hail damage so the insurance comp gave me some money :)
