Hi! Since I believe my truck has original speakers, I'd like to upgrade them in the dash and in the rear of the truck. How difficult is it to take apart the dash to replace the 4x6" speakers? I'm going to post this next one in the "Wanted" forum, but if anyone has a stock stereo with a cassette player, please let me know, as my truck only has an AM/FM stereo. :D

We've found out that the Burb has 3x3" speakers up front and will receive new ones tomorrow. Any tips on the dash removal? Anything to look out for, or just start by removing the screws in the cluster area and go from there?

If its the OBS dash you should'nt have to remove the dash just the speakers covers

89 Burb is OOBS. Yes take the trim off from the cluster and there are a few screws across the front of the dash. Then just pull forward easy because the back is just held to the firewall with clips that slide off form the under side.

The speakers are 3" round. There is also a phillips head screw on the passenger side of the dash pad when you open the door.

Thanks again - the dash came out easily. My husband wired in the new 4x10" speakers in the back and 3" up front. Had to mount them a little differently then the stock ones cause they sat up higher and would have hit the built-on grilles on the dash. I haven't turned the volume up yet, but will listen in the morning before putting the dash back in :D

Got the dash pad put back in this morning and at the last second, managed to put my finger through the delicate speaker holes. :( :banghead: Oh well... can't be perfect, can I?! lol But the new speakers sound real good and are much improved over the 23 year old stockers. Even has a bit of base too, which is always nice
