My plan for my exhaust on my 89 5.7 tbi silverado.

I plan on running long tube headers with one 3 wire o2 sensor and having 2.5 inch pipe then having 18 inch glasspacks (TRUE dual) (no y,h, or x pipe) then 90ing behind the back tires.

Any flaws in my exhaust plan?

Idk about the 90 part, everything else sounds good, just think with all that air flow with headers and all will be a waste cause the 90 might restrict air and sound flow.

I might have them come straight out the back. But I think having them 90 will sound better. I want it to really "Rack".

i would recomend an x pipe. it will give the best sound you ever heard. i did the straight pipe thing and there was alot of poping. the exhaust seemed to have a very bad sound to it. went to my local muffler shop and he builds drag cars. he hooked me up with a cross pipe or a x pipe and it made the truck sound perfect. after awhile i added a thrush muffler to each pipe after the x. gave it a supper deep rumble and still didnt kill my gas milage. just something to think about.

personaly think youll lose low end torque with duals,,single 3 in is more than adequet for that engine

x2 did this to my 88 and it was a dog after. my 95 yukon i left the stock y-pipe, removed the cat, then ran dual 2.5 pipes and mufflers from there. sounds almost as good as the pick-up did and still have low end.

I'm not running straight pipes. And I'm not running echo tips which make anything sound like straight pipes.

I don't like a ''deep rumble''. I like it to ''RACK'' and POP. And I'm not getting to serious with performance just want it to sound good.

If I wanted a deep rumble and more performance I would do the x pipe, It has a single glasspack going out to duals on it now, and has the deep rumble but it doesn't rack at all.

Why in the hell would you not want more performance if you can get it with an h pipe? Are you an idiot? just run open headers and nothing else.

because an h pipe would sound like it does now which is ****. My Truck has 245k miles and really needs a new motor and trans, so i really don't care if it will have a little less performance than it would with a h pipe.

As if you have heard so many setups with and without an h pipe and you can tell such a difference, whatever buddy.

Alright buddy. I have and I can tell, IMHO TRUE DUALS sound the best. Thats just how I like them to sound. You may like it to have a different tone but don't say mines wrong. I'm not saying your way is wrong I even aggreed that your way might produce more power, I just prefer The althentic sound of True duals.

Your info about duals is wrong, you can make your truck sound as good, bad, stupid, ignorant, and cheap as you want. Mine does make more power, torque, and MPG, there is no maybe. Authentic is what you are looking for.

You should try admiting your wrong for once it will make you see things clearer. I have never heard anyone say true duals could have a h or x pipe not even on here.

Well since you clearly are not good at searching and had to beat all the normal dead horses in this exhaust section, then of course you haven't read that. And even if anyone did tell you you are wrong you would not listen, I always admit when I am wrong, but since I am not I won't admit it.

Maybe those are true duals where you come from. But they just don't physicly make sense being called true if they have an h in them.

Your right and wrong in the same sentence. I'm just gonna get off, but not because I have to (have no one to make me) lmao. Just don't feel like trying to knock anymore sense into your thick skull.
