Im not sure if this is the right place to post this or if I should put in in Tech/Maint forum or even a diff one but here it goes...if think it should be moved go ahead where ever I might get the most help on this would n will be the greatest!!!!

I recently experienced a hard shift when in tow mode then it seemed to carry over to just reg driving.. Couple days after this started my bat light came on and I then replaced the alternator which then took care or that light.. The truck still idled higher then usual and ran at higher rpms but there was no lights.. I took it to the local trans shop the scaned it and said the cleard two codes, not telling me what they were, it curried the rpm prob as well as the hard/very harsh shifting.. I drove it like normal for about 3 weeks and then pulled a trailer again cuz well thats what you use horse power trucks like that for... The first time coming to a stop sign the down shift seemed fine until it got to 3 -> 2 and bang!!! The hard shift only on down from 3 to 2.. I went to the tran shop again and they hooked up their scanner and no codes this time so one the guys drove it and it did it even without a load.. He also stated that the up shift seemed to run at a high rpm before shifting which shouldnt be that high.. They wanted to hook up gauges to the lines and to a line pressure test I was ok with that gave them the truck for the day told them to call me with what they found and what thought maybe do.. Neatless to say no call no nothing I stopped in after work and theres my truck on the hoist and the tranny pan off valve body on the bench... Mind you no call no nothing and I told them the day before call before anything!!!! They go on to tell me that they called to get some new valves, the stock one are alum and the new ones are to be better now idk, plus this tech line they deal with said to replace 2 solnoides each $150+ and also then tell me that they havent even got a call back for the valve stuff yet go on to say they have it put back together tomor and drive it to c what it does n if thats the prob... So they dont even know what the prob is exactly plus dont have the parts but say i should be able to pick it up done after i off work tomor...

Idk what to do if this dont fix it im stuck $500+ into what, $150 each solinode plus the shift kit for valve body $250 they wana put in it and labor... When I told them if its a prob with the tranny im gona spend the money drop it and build it for power gains and horsepower upgrades down the road then i wont have to worry about tranny.

What should I do here.. Am I stuck with a big bill... Do I just take my key down there get in my truck and leave saying thank on way out what???

Or even what does the prob sound like to others out there are they on the right path or just reaching???

Thanks

ok so to update for those that read this but none have answered or maybe given me any pointers. :( I got my truck out of the shop only $820+ later... Leaving the shop I personaly wrote down my number on thier bill and telling them to call me befor doin anything only for them to pull the valve body out and tell me that they replaced valves n springs along with also the springs calling it a shift kit <---bahahahaha ok w/e

My thinking, still in complete discust, I could spent couple more hundred pulled the tranny n bought a kit to build it to hold the power for future upgrades to the motor for power n torq..

Am I completely lost here or even moreso in the wrong???

What would any of you do or even have any words for me of any sorts???

I'm guessing this is an Allison? They're usually very reliable.

They're appear to be two solenoid that cost about 150$ each for the Allison.

Most shift kits are just a few valves and a lot of springs; they are well worth it though. The full Transgo kit costs a little less than 200$, so if they fixed the problem, the solenoids really cost that much, and they installed a shiftkit than that's probably not too bad of a price. Although they should have called you before ordering parts and fixing it.
