As suggested, figured I'd start an intro here. I snagged a 2003 Silverado 1500, regular cab longbox 2WD for $1800 in August and have just now gotten around to finding a forum (its got a few little issues I'd like to finally fix).

Pewter gray, 4.8L auto, spray in box liner, looks like it's missing the bottom half of the front bumper(?)... dunno what else to say.

A few basic newbie questions here. I see a lot of guys saying OBS, NBS, NNBS... What does this all mean? I'm assuming it has something to do with generations... So mine would be NBS?

I needs me some helper springs! I use the truck for some light duty side jobs. No towing, but I do haul a yard to a yard and a half of random landscape materials (especially crush gravel), lumber, household garbage for dump runs, help people move, etc. The landscape materials seriously bog it down and make it sit like a poorly done up lowrider. Suggestions? Cheap and effective would be great. I don't need the creme de la creme. Hell, do 3/4 ton or 1 ton springs fit?

My cluster gear indicator decides to fade in and out with no rhyme or reason.... suggestions?

Blowers only work on high (5) setting. Is this the blower motor resistor most likely?

Can you guys suggest some trans additives that

Aaaaaannnnnd last but not least, my fuel pump is on its way out. Need to cycle it to start the truck, and it makes some pretty strained noises when I do so. However, no issues when the truck is running. A) Does this sound like the fuel pump to you? and B) What parts am I looking for?

This is my first truck, and aside from the pump-price shock of going to this from little Japanese cars, it's been great. I think I got a pretty good deal too, considering it's sitting at 170,000km. Looking forward to contributing - I'm an audio nut and very much into DIY projects. First up - center seat in the bench is getting a sub.

Thanks jina! I can't say I mind it. Whereabouts in Canada have you been?

Cancritter, I take it you're in Calgary? The forum for my Mazda (last vehicle) had a local section which was nice, it really helped bring together meets and whatnot. Are there many of us Alberta folk on here? Also, thanks a ton for the trans advice. 5 more days before I get home and can flush the trans and start working on the truck :D Also, is there a local dealer for the fluid?

Correction - apparently my truck isn't Pewter. I was thinking that was what the dark grey/green colour was called. Whatever though, its still not black :(
