Lookin to upgrade the speakers in my sierra from the stockers (blew out 2 of them) have a Pioneer AVIC-D2 in the truck. 4 speakers total 6.75 in the doors and 4X6 in the rear. basically i'm just lookin to get some better quality speakers that have some bump to them, but clear enough to be able to hear the weather reports. No really lookin to add an amp but will if needed. Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks
Kyle

You're going to have a hard time getting low end response from the 4x6's, but you can get decent response from 6.5's if you deaden the door, and also I prefer to use an mdf or birch speaker ring to mount the speaker to as well. As for speakers I am currently running arc audio speakers and have nothing but good things to say. I would recommend going and listening to some different speakers to help determine which type of sound you prefer.

spoke to a friend of mine who is good with this type of stuff and told him what i was shooting for and he recommended this to me:
Rockford FosGate P1675 - in doors
Rockford FosGate P1462 - in rear pillar
Pioneer Ts-T110 - tweeters, he also recommended running an extra set of tweeters in the a pillar in addition to the set in the door
does this all sound right?
If i go with that setup will i need an amp to power all of this?

Thanks,
Kyle

If the tweeters have a capacitor inline, you can just run them in parallel off the speakers. If not, yes you would need a separate amp. I personally would avoid running extra tweeters on top of the ones already built in to your coaxial as this will drastically increase your high end performance giving you the impression of having less bass and midbass response.

Bought the P1675's and i'm wondering if the stock GM speakers had quick connect's on the back of them, if they dont, do i need to get gold plated connectors?

you'll either need to buy speaker harnesses that will plug in to the factory GM plug and give you the femal spades you need for the speakers, or cut off the factory plus and just crimp on the spades. If you decide to cut the connector off, here are the wire colors to ensure you have correct polarity.

Front Left: Tan + / Gray -
Front Right: Light Green + / Dark Green -
Rear Left: Brown + / Yellow -
Rear Right: Dark Blue + / Light Blue -
