Hey guys, so i have a 2000 model 2500 chevy with the 6.0.. soon i will be needing a new motor but i want something with more power, but with the electronics exhaust etc. to pretty much put right in place.. So thing is since mine is a 2000 model, it is in a place all on its own with the 99 model with all the engine parts on aftermarket engine sites.. I would like to put a newer lq4 or something along the lines, im trying to get my 2000 2500 4x4 in the lower 14s high 13s.. Im buying a 4l80e heavy duty from monster transmissions first, should i get some sort of stall? It will be mated to the stock motor for a while at first.. Pretty much I'm nnot knowledgable with these newer engines and i dont know how interchangable they are at all..

If it's power you're looking for, look into swapping an 8.1 imo.

That would still be far from my low 14 wish.. lol im thinking lq4 or lq9 cammed.. i just dont know if the 01 up lq motors will have the same plug ins and such.. lke plug right in

You might do some reading on some of the LS forums. You could also just rebuild your 6.0 and put a charger on it.Should give you plenty of HP.

I used an 05 LQ4 for an 02 cube van, but swapped the old intake and TB system onto the newer block and heads.

It miht not exactly plug in, but some wiring schematics and some patience can make it work fairly easily, in my experience.

then when i look up engines like the lq4 perfomance upgrades does it always leave out my engine?it always says 2001+ the 99 and 2000 are never included?

99/00 had cast iron heads, and the exhaust was different, but mainly? I think because those are the overlap years

But cam, etc. All work, blocks were the same 99- till at least 2004, pretty sure several years newer then that, though if you get a torque convertor that you order it for your truck, the cranks changed lengths in 2001/2002(the reason a crank spacer isn't needed if using a "long crank" 6.0 and a 4l80e or standard sbc trans)

gotcha okay.... so lets see, if i gotta cam and lq9 heads maybe some injectors, would it run good enough to take it to get it tuned to right? I dont know anything about the tuning part? lol

It will likely run surprisingly well before the tune. :burn: after.
