I have an 04 Silverado with a 4/6 drop and would like to put the Monroe air shocks in the rear. I measured the drop shock that are on there now, 22.5" open and 14" compressed. The closest monroe part number I could find was for a caddilac MA728.

What part number do I need for my truck?

Air shocks aren't your best option. A set of helper bags would be a much better investment! Ride better and allow you to haul anything you want.

for 50 bucks, wouldnt it make sense to try the monroe maxair? I have seen and heard they ride good. Helper bags will be $300+, I have too many projects, 3 harleys and 3 cars, so my budget is tight right now.

If you don't get the ones with a compressor,I don't think they are that much.I put a set on a guys truck, and he said they were $129(not sure where he got them)You just have a valve stem just like airshocks.

Helper bags are around $200.
What is your goal? The air shocks will help cary some extra load but they aren't the best solution. If budget is your ultimate factor and you just need to raise the truck 1/2" or help haul a few hundred pounds the air shocks will work.

If you are looking to haull anything heavy you would be much better off with helper bags.

i do not drive the truck much, but i do use it to haul my harley cross country a couple of times a year. i would like to level the ride and have a bit more suspension travel when loaded. the rear drops about an inch when loaded and it bottoms out easy in bumps.

i ran air shocks from autozone on my 00 Silverado with a 4/6 drop and loved them. I can't remember the name, but I know they were $50 bucks and they had a lifetime warranty on them, they warrantied them out for me once bc one of the bushings tore up. I think they were from monroe.
