Ok....so I have inherited the G/F's old ride since she got a new one.

But anyways need to ditch the stock head unit and speakers. Probably going to try and stay around the $500 mark for the whole build.
Thinking about this head unit

Seems decent and relatively cheap. Havnt looked into finding it any cheaper, crutchfield just had all the specs I was looking for. Also looks line I need some damn $70 harness to keep the steering wheel controls working.
Door and rear deck speakers will probably be something I can scam for cheap from ebay. Don't plan on amping them....just running them from the deck.
So my real question is what is a good bargain sub and amp. Not looking for anything too crazy, but want it to sound good. I am planning on building my own box....and there is plenty of space in the trunk.
Also...anyone have a line on a cheaper harness for the steering wheel controls? This is basically what i need. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120ASWC/Axxess-ASWC.html I know there are a couple different brands out there though.
