Im building a motor for my sons car and in retrospect Im having second thoughts about the heads and compression I got a 350 motor, 30 over with flat top pistons from a friend of mine the motor had been gone through and he had pulled it out of the car and replaced it with a big block after about 5000 miles. my question is would using 193 heads (I know they are swirl port heads and not the best) with the flat top postons the heads are supposed to be around 64cc and the flat top pistons with 4 valve reliefs the pistons are Z8222 A4 casting number unfortunately he cant remember the manufacturer and I dont know the true height to determine compression ratio.

My concern is the quench and waht head gasket I should use, I dont want to put it all together and detonate a piston as he will be running pump gas. Would I be better putting a pair of 883's on it with 76cc chambers and being on the safe side? I had originally picked a comp cams 12-249-4 cam 206/212 LSA 112 INtake CL 108 duration 249/260 and valve lift .443/.444, IM not looking to make crazy Horsepower just a fun motor so he doesnt kill himself, but Im worried about the compression ratio and the quench for detonation problems. Any suggestions would be helpful
