Looking at getting either a 2002-2004 Camry or Accord. I've owned a 1999 prior but it was totaled...great car, and very good gas mileage. Looking at either of the to so I can save some coin at the pumps. Would like to know which you prefer and why. Thanks

Both seem pretty reliable and good cars. Since you want gas mileage are you going with the 4 cylinder?

Its like BMW vs Mercedes Benz. Both have the same reliability. BMW and honda are the sportier choices. I've personally rolled a 99 v6 accord onto its roof without any injury what so ever to me or my girlfriend so I can say hondas are very safe.

Between the two I would go accord, camerys are nice until they start breaking. They are like a domino effect. Fix one thing and something else breaks. Accords will hold up better and they will run forever as well. Me personally I was look for that year range mitsubishi with the 2.4 motor. Cheap gas, great motor, will run for ever. I bought a galant last year and the car drives great. Plenty of room and easy to work on.

I have a boosted 2000 Accord. Love it and the gas mileage. Chevy and Honda are like brother and sister...lol

It seems relevant for an accord vs camry thread on a chevy site because after all, my old 88 chevy is in the background

i've decided to also consider an Altima. Looking at a 2007 model, anyone have an expierence with these. It has around 117K miles. Do yall know if the have timing belts like the Camry or Accords?

My girl has a 08 v6 accord and its a great car, I like it a lot. I would consider one. Though the 4 cycliner would be better on gas, i enjoy this car when you gun it.

Nissan automatic trans are absolute garbage. The only way to buy japanese and get a worse car is to get a mitsubishi. ANYTHING is better then a mitsubishi.

Accord, no question, used to have a 2003 V6 EX-L with Nav.
Just open and close the doors, that will show you the quality difference between Hondas and Toyota/Nissan/Chevy/Ford/etc most non-luxury brands.. Reliability very much the same, but not the quality. We actually bought that over a Lexus ES330. The Accord felt like a better car, and it was cheaper than the Lexus.

I would chose Accord. I work at a Nissan dealer, the Nissan has a timing chain instead of belt. I prefer the belt after working there. The chains are supposed to be a service free aspect of ownership, but they still tend to go if the car has ever been abused or oil changes have been neglected. The downside to the chain on the Nissan VS the belt on the Toyota and Honda is its 3 to 4 times more expensive to replace then a timing belt. A timing belt has a change interval but it is also more resilient to abuse. The other aspect of the Altima I don't like is the CVT transmission. It is smooth and gives you decent gas mileage, but they tend to have leaking problems, and a flush on those CVT's costs $600. The Altima is still a nice car, but I prefer Honda to it. I don't usually consider Toyota because they just come across as boring, but that is just personal opinion.
