when did ford trucks stop using TBI

what year did ford f 150/250/350 trucks stop using throttle bodie injection and move to port injection.

and did they to to full multi port injection or do what chevy did with that spider injector setup.

Oh boy, it was a long time ago, 88 or 89. They had the real multi-port the whole time, not that garbage Chevy tried to pass off.

I wouldn't call TBI garbage. I've never owned a TBI Chevy, but my dad did. I think I'd rather have TBI than the spider Vortec....... which is just a convoluted mess in my opinion.

GM is slow to use newer technology in favor of refining the tried and true. I'm fine with that, as they seem to do well with it........ what other company builds impressive pushrod engines, for example.

I've thought it would be interesting to own a 460, but I'd have to be in a position to own a vehicle that didn't need to be driven much, at our current gas prices.

haha I think it got 8 once, normal was around 6mpg with the cattle trailer. it pulled anything we wanted it to though. it was the biggest gas sucking, oil burning, rusted out POS i have ever seen.

Being a Ford truck guy too and repaired a few, the TBI faded off around 1997 when the 4.9/5.0/5.8 was scrapped. It was MPFI, just had a throttle body. GM nor Dodge had this until the early to mid 90's.

The Ford trucks never got tbi to my knowledge. The cars did. Trucks used multi port.
