Anyone know whats the best setup for this style truck. Im wanting a 6/8 or 5/7 drop. Its going to be my daily driver and for long drives out of state. I want to keep my stock wheels but im not sure its possible with the drop. What issues will i have with alignment and can it be fixed. Any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks

I have a c30 with stock wheels (dually). For the rear I just flipped the axle with a C notch and in the front cut some coil and spaced out the uppers. I can't really talk much about kits for these trucks but I will say mine gives me no issues being that low. I do have my inner fenders out in the front. Occasionally I can catch a speed bump if I go over it to fast. A good place to get ideas is 67-72chevytrucks.com there are alot of guys on there who have a ton of knowledge on the oobs

I recently registered in that forum but for some reason i can log in. Ive always had kits on all my trucks so im realy leaning towards a kit for this one too. How low did yours go, how many coils did u cut?

I think it was 1 and a half coils. Not really sure right now, just took it down bit by bit til I got it where I wanted it.

I've dropped two of these old guys. My old 79 had 3" djm spindles with 2" eibach springs up front, western chassie flip kit, shock extenders and c-notch in back. My 78 has 3" belltech spindles and 2" summit coils in front with belltech shackles and hangers in the rear plus a couple leafs removed for 5". No matter what brand parts you choose to drop it you really should look at doestch tech shocks. They are the best I've used so far. I've use 15" rims on both trucks.

So u can use 15s? there not like the new trucks that once u drop them u have to use 17s or higher? Back when these trucks first got spindles you had 2 choices for rim sizes. 15's or.... well 15's... A little work on the outer edge of the lower a frame with a grinder is all thats needed... Its not too bad

You can run 15's on an OBS with drop spindles. I am, and so are lots of people. Like he said above, a little work with a grinder on the LCA is all it takes.
