Started being more active again so I made a new build thread. It's a 1998 Chevy C1500 2WD. I've had the truck since September of 2010 and I have done quite a few things to it. It had a 5.7L with the GM upgraded injectors, an Eaton posi and a Flowmaster. Here is what the truck looked like when I first got it.

First thing I did was get the windows tinted, buffed the lights, and polished my wheels. Then I put in blue LEDs everywhere. I highly recommend them even if they are just white LEDs, they are a huge difference.

Installed a black billet bowtie for my grille, bought Radial T/A's and put on some American Racing 200S's on it, which were quite a job to get them to work on my truck.

^ 1 7/8 inch pipe if any of you are wondering. Ridiculous! New exhaust is 2.5 inch.

Bought OBX headers off of eBay. I paid $259 INCLUDING shipping for a set of stainless longtube headers, which are hard to find for the 96+ Vortec motors. They fit great, btw. We cut the bracket/air intake thing off of the front tube and then welded it up and polished it. Hardly noticeable.

Here are some pics of the exhaust, I had work done all the way back to the muffler (I didn't have a new one yet).

Apparently, the muffler I have on my truck is a 70 series Flowmaster that was installed in 1999. The headers and exhaust did make a noticeable difference in the sound and power even with this muffler. My truck sounds a hell of a lot deeper now.
....And then these came!

Spintech Pro Street (6000). I have heard awesome reviews about these mufflers and there was no way I was going back to Flowmaster's. The exhaust from the muffler on back should be done sometime within the next week.

I love it!! I'm not sure what I like better, the old wheels or the new ones. Make sure to post an exhaust clip when its finished!

You did an awesome job polishing the first set of wheels you had on the truck. What all did you use to clean those up?
Truck is looking great. I really want to hear what the exhaust sounds like when the mufflers get put on.

Thank you! I used a DA and sanded them all down and then used a vented buffing wheel and compound to polish them up. They turned out flawless, ended up selling them and the tires for $400. I polished my wheels at work, though, we have industrial sized equipment and polishers, so I'm not sure how I would have went about doing those wheels without this.
I will try to get an exhaust clip if I can, I might have to borrow someone else's camera, but if I can I definitely will upload the exhaust clip.

Another little mod (and the easiest) is changing the stock door chime/buzzer. If you own an OBS, you can agree with me that it is annoying as hell. So what I did is swap it out with a door chime from a 1995 Z28 Camaro. I believe most 90-97 GM cars are swap-able, but don't quote me on that. Just look to see if it has the 7 blade connectors and you should be good. Here's what my stock one looked like.

and the new Camaro one (brown thing) in it's place. It's slightly smaller and the speakers are different, but it swapped perfectly.

I took this video to show what the chime sounds like. It has 3 different sounds; the 1st and slowest sound being the key turned over in the ignition, the 2nd is the door opened with key in ignition, and the 3rd and fastest chime is lights on without the truck started.

I don't think my truck chimes........ I bought it used with 6,000 miles. I wonder if the original owner pulled the chime. I suppose it's possible that 1-tons didn't get them, too.

It doesn't buzz or anything? Hmmm that's interesting, it wouldn't surprise me if the original owner did pull it because it was so annoying haha

I checked this morning...... I do have one. I guess I'm used to it. It's a single tone. I guess I'm good wit the stock one. I kind of think the chimes are annoying.

Some updated pics with my tires and wheels back on and the TYC lights. I was running 454 SS wheels during the winter.

Exhaust was finished, the Spintech's make it sound incredible. Sounds very aggressive and muscle car-like, it almost even sounds like a I have a different cam. Went with a H-pipe instead of the X, and have it turned down in the corners of my truck.

Interesting, I never knew that they were swappable.
I got so fed up with the original buzzer that I pulled it, but I might have to throw that chime in as I sometimes leave my lights on... :looking:
Thanks for the info there.

No problem, I hated the stock buzzer, too. One of my favorite mods I have done, it just makes the truck feel "newer" haha.
