i want to modify the space where the factory radio was mounted to accept a double din dvd touchsceen player. has anyone done this modification in a 89 - 94 style dash yet and if so could you kindly post some pics. don't want to fly blind if i don't have to.

I dont think the factory location above the ac controls is quite big enough to put a double din into. I have seen a couple that were mounted in the center of the dash but it required quite a bit of fiberglass work to make it work. I was wanting to go this route but seems to really be more trouble than its worth.

Definitely not. It's not the space on the front that's the issue so much as the lack of depth.

So what would stop me from grinding away at the plastic material so as to get a bit more depth in the pocket.

Nothing at all as long as you don't mind seeing the backside of your head unit sticking out when you look through the windshield. This doesn't give you much depth to work with.

Well here's an option, pull your factory a/c controls and if they're shallow enough, move them up to the factory radio location, and then put your double in where the a/c controls used to be?

I'm wanting to fiberglass in my gps in the factory radio position and fiberglass a double din in the center dash where the factory storage cubby was. I know i'd have to get rid of the ac vents in the center of the dash but i'm not sure how i would go about fiberglass my dash. Could i stretch fleece over the whole dash and fiberglass on that because if you take the vinyl off the dash the gaps won't line up correctly they are much bigger than factory. any help?
