Well i have a 97 gmc sierra with the 5.7 vortec, its startin to become more of a weekend/play vehicle and im wantin some more power, im runnin 4.88s and 38s so i need to keep the low end power as much as possible, iv seen alot of 383 kits that come with everything for the build but would really like some advice on what one to go with for my needs, thanks in advance!

I would go with a middle of the road cam if it's becoming more of a weekend truck, something with a powerband starting in the 1500 or 1800 range as the extra displacement will lower that a little. I have a cam advertised 1200-5200 and it pulls hard from idle to 5k even with 3.08s, granted it's a 2wd rcsb. Also know that if you go up that far in a cam you'll be getting near the limit of a good stock Vortec spider. You may be better off looking into a new intake allowing the use of different injectors. Do you have emissions in your area? I'm guessing you don't since your sig lists a cat delete.

Nope no emissions here, id like to upgrade the intake, but what with?

I haven't really done anything aftermarket with the Vortec intake stuff, but I'm guessing you could stick with the Vortec distributor/electronics, go with something like a Holley Street Ram & delete the EGR in the tuning, or go with a TPI setup with a Vortec base. The HSR would probably be the easiest to bolt on, but the TPI will make a lot more torque down low.
