I need to do a tune up on my 99 7.4 I would like to do cap and rotor and plugs and wires. I have heard from a number of people to use a a/c delco cap on these trucks anything else will not last. I used the china cap for about 2 months when I installed the distributor and I was heading home and it was missing replaced the cap with the old one. I have been using this cap for the last couple months but towing season is really coming between boat and camper. I just hate to spend almost 200.00 dollars for cap, rotor, plugs and wires all being a/c delco.

Go to Amazon and check their prices. Check for both AC Delco, and Delphi. Last I checked the Delphi wires were cheaper, and it was either the cap or rotor that they didn't have in Delphi..... I don't remember which. The Delphi parts will be the same as OEM for our trucks, the AC could be the same part, or it could be a similar part from a different supplier. I've had great service from Amazon....... I have had to exchange some parts, but they're no hassle and fast, at least when it's actually Amazon, and not another vendor selling on Amazon. So far, I've only purchased directly from Amazon.
For plugs, I went with NGK since that's who is making AC Delco plugs, I've heard. I haven't installed them yet. I bought the non-fancy, non-platinum plugs..... TR-55, I think.
If you haven't replaced it in a number of years, you might think about your serpentine belt. Also clean out your PCV valve....... don't buy a new one, they're so easy to clean. Let's see, what else........ I don't know, but if you order enough, you get free shipping.

Another choice is TechChoice Parts (online). Just picked up a new AC compressor and other parts from them, with shipping it was still less than half the local price, and cheapest I found online for identical parts. Last time I looked the cap was ~$25 from them OR Rockauto.

The ac cap and rotor is the way to go. the wires you have some options. Most good aftermarket wires will work. For the plugs I would use regular ac's,a lot of guys on here use the ngk's with good results too.Either should be good.If you havn't done the fuel filter in a while,it might be time.

I used ac delco cap, rotor and 933 plugs, went cheap on the plug wires summit brand, they are the easiest to replace if need be but still holding up.
