What are puddle lamps

I have a 2007 2500HD crew cab with the owners manual stating that when the doors are opened, the puddle lamps will illuminate. I can not find or see these lamps. I did have a red and white light in the door of my 06' Silverado but nothing on this 07'. Any Ideas?

I don't know about the Chevys, but one Fords, they're on the under side of the mirrors.

If it has the towing/camper mirrors then it doesn't have puddle lamps. If it has the regular side mirrors then they would be under the base of the mirror.
