Anyone ever added the Driver Information Center to their truck? I have a 2007 NBS Silverado Ext Cab Z71. I currently do not have the DIC and would like to use it for gathering more info while driving and all. CUrrently only have the single stem push button to use and its a pain in the butt, and doesn't provide very much info. I found this link... http://gmt900.wrath.org/dic.htm but not sure if that same scenario will apply and as easily to my truck. Thoughts??? My father has the DIC in his 07 Silverado and a lot more info is displayed on the led screen in the dash, will that also work on my truck??? Any source (other than dealer) that I can refer to to make sure this is a viable option for me???
Thanks in advance!
Philip
I just ordered one for my '09 silverado. it sounds like it should be a really easy install.
I received it today. It took about 1 minute to install and works perfect. It's a pretty simple upgrade that should be installed from the factory.

was it all plug and play? everything workd? like oil life, odo, mpg, etc....
yep, took off the old panel popped out the headlight switch, put it in the new panel plugged in the 2 plugs and it was good to go. oil life, fuel economy, tire pressure, fuel used, engine hours, plus a bunch of other options. just don't be afraid to use a little force taking the panel off. the instructions say to pretty much take the whole dash apart, but it isn't necessary.

The instructions I received with the GM kit was completely retarded, including the first 3 steps showing the SLT dash! lol
But yes, it's a quick and easy install and even on the W/T's the wires are already there! The statement above that "it should be factory installed" is spot on. It would have raised the cost about $10 on each new truck out there. Ridiculous that it wouldn't be included.
