My 2003 Chevy silverado gauges/cluster shut off yesterday and then came back on while driving on the freeway. Now they all seem to be functioning normal for now but the speedo is stuck at 25mph at a dead stop (so its like im doing 90mph on the freeway)

No idea on this... Hopefully someone has heard of this

The gauges in my 03 Sierra makes funny noises, but I havent encountered the problem you have... yet.

There was a cluster recall a few years back. I had an '04 that sometimes the speed-o would lock up and it would show I was doing like 15 or 30 mph when stopped and then go up normally from there. My truck was past the mileage to be covered under the warranty but I worked at a chevy dealer at the time so I got it swapped out anyway.

If this doesn't work for you, OP, I suggest crawling under the truck and start checking out your power and ground circuits. Primarily ground circuit, as simple loose or corroded ground issues can cause a myriad of strange electrical gremlins that seem to be a new problem...with a broad and simple solution.

That is if the recall/replacement thing doesn't fix the issue.

Where would you primarily look at, in case this happens one day to my truck

I have an '03 Sierra that had a similar problem, one by one all my gauges failed on me, tach, speedo, fuel, temp, and battery gauges were all pegged to the right. I lived with it for about 4 years without having a speedometer, until finally I sent it to Dr. Speedometer to rebuild it, and now it works great. It was only about $190 and he has a lifetime gaurantee. He get it back to me in about a week, so not bad at all. Check him out at drspeedometer.com

A common problem in the 03-06 vehicles. Just replace the cluster and program. Dealer will do it for around $300. Worth it if you have a lead foot. Tachometer will be next.

There's a guy in Youngstown, Oh on Clist that replaces all the steppers and guarantees his work as well for a nice low $75 bucks.
