I have a 2001 Chevy 1500 and replacing the stock radio. I got another one that was aftermarket and has the brackets. I found a better one and bought the plug-in adapter. I now just has the change the brackets and adpater. How do I remove the old radio? I'm guessing the trim that goes over the AC controls, Radio and guages needs to come off?

Pull the dash bezel off (held on with clips), you'll need to put the steering wheel down and the shifter into 1st to get it off.
The radio slides in on rails and is held there by clips. I can't remember how I removed it, but I think it just took a flat head screwdriver or my hands. It wasn't that difficult.
Then remove the molex connectors at the back of the thing and pull it on out.
