My '03 Tahoe did not come with the DIC/radio controls on the steering wheel (unheard of in a truck that had the options it does, but I guess they made a few Z71s without the steering wheel buttons), just the basic leather wrapped version. It's kind of worn out too, whoever owned the truck originally picked it with their thumbnail, got hungry and maybe bit the top of the steering wheel, I don't know what the hell they did. It doesn't look terrible, but it bothers me because I'm sitting in the seat looking at it constantly. It's worn on some of the rubber spokes too.

The other day a good friend of mine, a former Chevy dealer tech, gave me TWO 03+ multifunction DIC wheels after I had helped him out with some random things. He told me he got them for his 2500HD a few years ago from eBay because he was going to do the DIC in his truck, but never got around to it. I figured they would both be black but one is tan. Oddly enough, it's the same "Neutral" tan that's in my truck! The black one is kinda in the same shape as my current wheel, dirtier, and appears to have been out in the elements because some of the metal contacts on the back look weathered, but the tan one cleaned up really nice considering, even after just a couple minutes with a rag and some Tuff Stuff. With a good cleaning and some 303 it would look great I'm sure. The buttons on both wheels look good too with no wear, I just don't know if they'll light up. The contacts on the back of the tan wheel all look good, probably was never in a truck with a blown out windshield or whatever. The tan wheel even has good leather on it.

I have no idea what kind of vehicle this wheel came from, it's just like a Tahoe DIC wheel, leather and all, but isn't black, and I'm pretty sure all Chevys had black wheels. Maybe it's from a Yukon, an Envoy, or a Denali or something? I'm curious because I'd like to see if I could get color matched plastics for the steering column as well if I were to use this wheel.

No matter what, I have the SEM Color Coat paint to convert my black plastic pieces if necessary, however I'd prefer to hold onto those if possible and leave them if I wanted to change back. I realize that Chevy only offered black airbags (as far as I know) but I can paint mine. I'd have to prep it good though, it has 303 on it.

At first I thought a color matched wheel would look dumb in my truck, but now my mind has kinda changed. I do eventually want to get the DIC clockspring and do the swap...but I might try to just put this wheel in for now with the buttons not functioning then finish the job later. Has anyone done this? I'll take a pic if I get a chance today.

Haha.

I think this must be out of a Denali. My current wheel is the same, but black, and no buttons. I didn't even think of it earlier but I guess there are a few trim pieces that go on the steering wheel too in back of the airbag or whatever...that I don't have, but could scavenge from my current wheel...
