hey guys new to the site. I just bought a 08' 1500 5.3l. I plan on putting on pacesetter longtube headers, magnaflo universal/high flo cats (94066) and straight pipes 2.5in pipin all the way with 4"x18" rolled tips 45'd(true dual). Does anyone see any problems with this? I've never had headers but used this setup without headers before on my ford with different high flows. should i x-pipe it? will this make my check engine light stay on? thanks guys for any and all input.

edit: Also reading that i need a tune for the headers? I'm putting in a edge cs programmer will that work or what do I need?

the stock cats will be fine, I would re use them as they are high flow, then I would definitely add a x or h pipe.

That programmer will not be able to tune for headers and you really don't have to tune for them, but a custom tune would be best.

Yes you can use them, is there two on their now? The only thing that will happen is if you don't run your rear o2's then it will set of the SES light but there are not ill effects.

well you can leave the rear ones out but it will set the SES light with no ill effects, but a tune can tune those out as well as help power and MPG

Oh you can get custom tunes downloaded to the edge? well then you should be able to have all that accounted for, email them or call them to ask. and yes no problems at all. I would definitely do an x or h pipe though, it is going to a loud setup and crackly like straight pipes are and if you like that then more power to you.

That is only a problem to people who hate straights, I don't like them but it would be a problem of building the exhaust. I for one do not want everyones truck to have the same setup, boring.

y will it sound like ****? i hvaent heard any good clips but i had them when i was younger n i dont rlly remember the sound... im ultimately goin for a setup with super deep mid loud idle and deep loud explosion with lil to no crackle and pop wat do yall suggest? i just kno that this will make it loud and add some power gains

lol ohhhh well if you want that sound then straights is not going to give you any of that. mufflers is a good start, Mr. lover boy up there will put Spintech down your throat, but a Cherry Bomb Extreme would be good for you or a short Magnaflow.

yea i have high flos true dualed with 2 11" magnaflo bodies with 2.5" pipin 45'd and i love the sound but its not quite loud enough and theres no idle to it thats y i was thinkin of a new setup.

Well look into the Cherry bomb extremes or maybe even just some glasspacks, they will crackle though.

well yours sounds purdy good and has the deep roar i want, but im doin 45'd out the back with 4"x18" rolled tips as a true dual system. wat model spintech is that? and would two si/si for true dual or a di/do be better? and u have headers?

Yeah, Schoenfeld LT's, 3" cats, 3" y pipe, and the Spintech 6000

I just had a 18" one on, I loved it! nice and loud when you get on it, no drone at cruise, pretty loud at idle, I shouldnt have swapped at all.

i was thinkin 2 12" bullets, how would they differ from the 18" ?

More crackle and pop, I would go 18's personally

yea i was lookin at them only thing is they are 3" in/out im using 2.5 pipin through and through, i only suggested the 12's cuz they are 2.5 in/out. im goinna do some crimped chevy bowtie tips too i think how do i make the 3" in/out work with the 2.5" pipin? cuz if i can i will do true dual 18" bullets

Personally I wouldn't run true duals, forget the cats, and run a nice muffler. Then tune it.

Don't run that without an H or X and screw those bowtie tips....look like ghetto sh!t
