I have true dual exhaust with no cats and am thinking of a pair of hooker headers. Does anyone have any suggestions on some other fairly inexpensive upgrades for horsepower and fuel economy?

cant afford to put a 350 in it. never heard of a torque converter for performance. What is a ring and pinion set?

TBI's make enough low end torque, and combine that towing, I wouldn't touch the TC.

Mid length headers.
Ultimate TBI mods.

A higher stall tc is not going to add horsepower to the engine, and definately no improvement in fuel economy. It will make your truck a little quicker on takeoff though.

don't the tbi guys swap the throttle body with the ones from the 454?

yes, on built engines. Probably not a good idea on a 305 though.

Yeah, stock throttle body with mods won't be a restriction to an otherwise stock 305.

Just out of curiosity what size are your duals? And do you have a heated o2 sensor?
